How Does Ram's Intelligent eTorque System Work?
For the 2026 model year, the Ram 1500 HEMI V-8 engine features an eTorque hybrid system. The way it works is, the system stores energy in a compact, 430-watt-hour lithium-ion battery, which is located in a noise-insulated enclosure behind the rear seat. A 3-kilowatt DC-to-DC converter is able to help charge the truck's conventional 12-volt battery as well as power accessories. There are a variety of benefits to having the eTorque system in place. Beyond efficiency, it enhances shifts, improves fuel-saving cylinder deactivation and smooths transitions under acceleration and braking, helping reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).
What Makes the Ram 1500 a Class-Leader in Technology?
While the big news for the 2026 model year is the return of the HEMI, we can't leave out the Ram's incredible suite of tech features. In fact, the 1500 holds claim to having the most technological advanced features in its class! Ram Digital Key integrates with compatible iPhone or Android Auto devices to access and start your truck without removing the smartphone from your pocket. How easy is that? A few more highlights? RAM 1500 offers class-exclusive available dual wireless charging pads, over 50" of combined available digital display viewing area, as well as the most powerful available audio system in its class. And, if you are looking for a futuristic driving aid, the Ram 1500's Hands-Free Active Driving Assist system uses sensors, cameras, and radar to help maintain speed and distance from other vehicles, on select roadways across the US.
What are the Engine Options for 2026 Ram 1500?
With four different engine options, the 2026 Ram 1500 offers something for every buyer in the market for a full-size truck. The base engine remains the same, a 3.6 L Pentastar V‑6 with eTorque. This engine offers plenty of power for most, putting out a max of 305 HP and an 8130 pound max towing capacity. Next, we have two variants of the Hurricane engine. The standard output 3.0L I-6 gives you 420 HP and 469 LB-FT of torque. It can tow up to 11, 610 pounds! Then there is the Hurricane High-Output engine, giving owners 540 HP and 521 LB-FT of torque. Last but not least, we have the HEMI V8, which, as mentioned above, has been just added back into the lineup. This year, though, it uses a new eTorque hybrid assist for better efficiency. The V8 pumps out 395 HP and 410 lb-ft torque, and comes standard on Limited and Longhorn trims at no extra cost.
